Pakistan s cricketing talent has made a strong mark in the Big Bash League (BBL) 2025 Draft, with seven national stars securing contracts across various franchises. The draft, held today, saw Pakistani players making headlines alongside international heavyweights, further affirming their growing stature in global T20 leagues.
Star batter Babar Azam had already been pre-signed by the Sydney Sixers ahead of the draft, becoming one of the most high-profile acquisitions of the season. His inclusion marked his debut in the BBL and set the tone for more Pakistani inclusions to follow.

In Round 1 of the draft, premier pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi was picked by Brisbane Heat, while wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan joined the Melbourne Renegades. Round 2 saw more Green Shirts entering the league as spin-bowling all-rounders Hassan Khan and Shadab Khan were snapped up by the Melbourne Renegades and Sydney Thunder respectively. Shadab, a seasoned T20 campaigner, brings vast international and franchise experience to the Thunder s setup.
Adelaide Strikers added firepower to their bowling unit by drafting veteran seamer Hasan Ali in Round 3. Meanwhile, express pacer Haris Rauf was retained by his BBL franchise, the Melbourne Stars, reflecting their continued confidence in his pace and impact.
Among international picks, notable names included Tom Curran, Finn Allen, Sam Billings, Tim Seifert, Chris Jordan, and Colin Munro. However, the spotlight firmly remained on Pakistan’s impactful presence, with their seven-player representation indicating a strong Pakistani flavor in BBL 15.
