Renowned cricketer's sudden death leaves India in mourning

NEW DELHI: (Web desk) The news of the sudden death of a renowned cricketer in his sleep has left Indian cricket world in grief, while fans are also deeply saddened.

According to Indian media reports, former Bengal Ranji Trophy cricketer Sujit Banerjee passed away due to a heart attack. The late cricketer was only 39 years old.

The family of the Indian cricketer informed the media that Sujit Banerjee still had a passion for playing cricket. After having lunch at home, he went for a short nap but never woke up.

When his parents tried to wake him, he did not respond. Later, a doctor was called to the house, who confirmed the cricketer’s death and stated that he had suffered a heart attack in his sleep.

It is noteworthy that Sujit Banerjee made his debut for the Bengal team in 2014 during a Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Odisha. He had also participated in three Ranji Trophy matches in the current season.

Bengal s current coach, Laxmi Ratan Shukla, expressed his sorrow over the cricketer s passing, stating that he was a team player and a charming person, whose performance in domestic cricket had attracted everyone s attention.

Sujit Banerjee was a right-handed batsman and part-time off-spinner. He represented Eastern Bengal in domestic cricket from 2008 to 2009 and again from 2016 to 2017.
