The tragedy struck during the tri-nation T20I series in Sharjah, but Rashid demonstrated remarkable resilience by leading his team and even scoring a brisk 39 off 16 balls in the series opener against Pakistan.
In a touching display of solidarity, the Pakistan cricket team paid tribute to Rashid, consoling him on the field with heartfelt gestures after the match. A viral video captured Shaheen Shah Afridi embracing Rashid, while others gathered to offer their support and prayers.

Despite the personal blow, Rashid’s professionalism shone through. In the same match:
Pakistan posted 182/7, thanks to Salman Ali Agha’s unbeaten 53 off 36 balls. Haris Rauf starred with four wickets, supported by Shaheen, Mohammad Nawaz, and Sufiyan Muqeem, helping to bowl Afghanistan out for 143. The final margin stood at 39 runs in Pakistan’s favour.
This moment was widely praised as a reminder that beyond rivalry, sport is built on respect and unity as Pakistan’s cricket team came together to support a grieving opponent.
