The woman reportedly met Haider Ali for the first time on July 23 at a Manchester hotel and later had lunch with him. Their second meeting took place on August 1 in Ashford, Kent. Just days later, on August 4, she filed a rape complaint.

Haider Ali was arrested two weeks after the allegation, taken into custody from the Spitfire County Ground players’ canteen office in Kent. Officers did not handcuff him and transferred him to Canterbury Police Station for questioning.
