It marks the conclusion of yet another chapter in Yousuf’s association with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
According to sources, Yousuf tendered his resignation to the PCB earlier this week, citing personal obligations as the reason for stepping away from his responsibilities.
Yousuf, who previously played a key role in the national team’s coaching setup, was part of the coaching staff during Pakistan’s recent tour of New Zealand. However, he did not feature in the coaching lineup for the home series against Bangladesh. His resignation now clarifies that his absence was a voluntary decision.
The 50-year-old was brought on board as a batting coach at the NCA to mentor young Pakistani batters and occasionally contributed to the senior team as well. His rich experience and classical batting technique were considered vital assets for Pakistan’s often-inconsistent batting order.

Though the PCB has yet to release an official statement, insiders claim the parting was amicable, and the possibility of future collaboration remains open.
As the PCB continues to reshape its coaching structure to align with shifting priorities and upcoming international events, Yousuf’s exit could prompt further changes within the NCA’s development programs.
Whether this is a permanent departure or a brief hiatus from Pakistan cricket remains uncertain. Nonetheless, his resignation removes an experienced and technically astute mentor from the country’s cricketing landscape.
