DUBAI (Web Desk): The International Cricket Council has fined Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav and Pakistani bowler Haris Rauf for breaching the code of conduct during a recent match.

According to a cricket website, ICC rejected Suryakumar Yadav’s explanation regarding his controversial post-match statement and fined him 30 percent of his match fee. The council also warned him not to make any political comments in the future.

On the other hand, Haris Rauf was fined 30 percent of his match fee for making hand gestures during the game. He was also given an official warning by the ICC.

Pakistani batter Sahibzada Farhan was not fined. He was only warned for waving his bat like a gun in celebration. ICC categorized both Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan’s acts as Level One offenses.

It is worth mentioning that a day earlier, Suryakumar Yadav appeared before the ICC headquarters where he was clearly instructed to avoid political remarks inside the ground.

Earlier, Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan were summoned to ICC headquarters after a complaint filed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. Match referee Richie Richardson heard both cases separately and questioned Farhan about his gun celebration and Haris about his 0-6 gesture.

The ICC’s decision highlights the sensitivity of political remarks and symbolic gestures in international cricket. While the fines may close this chapter, the controversy has raised questions about cultural expressions and double standards in the game. Many believe this clash could further fuel tensions between India and Pakistan in future matches.
