Punjab, including the provincial capital Lahore, continues to experience dry weather, Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reported on Sunday. However, a rain-bearing weather system is expected to enter Pakistan tonight, bringing rain to parts of the country.
The PMD warned that rain is likely in Murree, the Galiyat, and other northern areas, with snowfall expected in some higher-altitude locations. Citizens are advised to remain cautious, especially in hilly and northern regions, due to slippery roads and low visibility.
Severe Cold in Northern Pakistan
Over the past 24 hours, most of the country experienced cold and dry weather, while severe cold prevailed in northern regions. Temperature readings from Sunday showed Leh as the coldest location at minus 10°C, followed by Astore at minus 6°C, Gupis at minus 5°C, and Skardu, Hunza, and Kalat at minus 4°C. Kalam, Gilgit, Quetta, and Dir recorded minimum temperatures of minus 3°C.
The PMD highlighted that these low temperatures could affect daily life, particularly in remote and mountainous areas, and urged residents to take precautionary measures.

Advisory for Citizens
Authorities have advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel, especially in northern areas, until the weather stabilizes. People are also encouraged to dress warmly, cover exposed skin, and stay safe during snowfall or rain, while road authorities are expected to monitor conditions closely to prevent accidents.
The approaching rain system is expected to bring temporary relief to dry regions in Punjab, but northern areas should prepare for snowfall and icy conditions.
