Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued important weather forecasts for Lahore and Karachi, signaling contrasting conditions in the two cities.
In Lahore, early morning skies were partly cloudy with a cool breeze bringing a mild chill. The department has predicted a new spell of rain starting today, expected to continue until March 16, which will break the ongoing heatwave. Temperatures are forecast to drop, with lows reaching 4°C in some areas.
Due to the threat of heavy rains across Punjab, authorities have been issued emergency instructions to protect crops and prevent flood-related damage. PMD has placed relevant departments on high alert, emphasizing the potential risks from storms and strong showers.
For today, Lahore is expected to experience intermittent sun and cloud cover, with no significant rainfall predicted in the next 24 hours. The city’s temperature will range from 17°C to 31°C, with winds blowing at 8 km/h and humidity levels at 49%.

Meanwhile, Karachi continues to face hot and humid conditions. The skies are partly cloudy, and temperatures are expected to rise, reaching a high of 38°C. Strong daytime sun will increase heat intensity, while winds from the west will blow at 4 km/h, and humidity remains high at 80%.
The PMD has stated that the air quality in Karachi is satisfactory, posing no immediate health risk. Residents are advised to take precautions against the heat, stay hydrated, and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during peak hours.
Weather experts warn that the contrasting conditions in Lahore and Karachi reflect the seasonal transition, with Punjab receiving relief from rainfall while Sindh continues to experience rising heat.
