(Web Desk): PDMA Punjab has issued a weather alert for February 8–10, warning of rain and snowfall across upper Punjab, with authorities placed on high alert statewide.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued a rain and snowfall alert for the province from February 8 to 10, cautioning residents and tourists to remain vigilant as adverse weather conditions are expected to intensify.

According to the PDMA Punjab weather advisory, upper regions of the province are likely to experience rain and snowfall, while most districts across Punjab may receive rainfall during the three-day spell. The authority has specifically forecast snowfall and rain in Murree, Galiyat, and adjoining areas on February 9 and 10, raising concerns over road safety and tourist movement.

In Lahore, dense cloud cover followed by moderate rainfall is expected between February 9 and 10. Meanwhile, southern districts of Punjab could witness rain accompanied by hail, which may impact crops, traffic flow, and power infrastructure.

The PDMA alert also lists several districts where rainfall is likely, including Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Sargodha, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Layyah, Dera Ghazi Khan, Khushab, Jhang, Noorpur Thal, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, and Sialkot.

PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia confirmed that weather alerts have been formally issued to local governments, the health department, Rescue 1122, police, and transport authorities to ensure timely preparedness. He stated that, following the directives of the Punjab Chief Minister, all departments must complete precautionary arrangements in advance.

Kathia further emphasized that emergency control rooms will remain operational 24/7, while Rescue 1122 disaster response teams will stay on high alert throughout the forecast period. Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel, particularly in hilly and snow-prone regions.

Tourists heading to Murree and surrounding hill stations have been urged to exercise caution, adhere to official advisories, and follow traffic and safety instructions to avoid any untoward incidents during the expected spell of rain and snowfall.
