Pakistan to face heavy rain, thunderstorms, snowfall from 29 December

LAHORE (Web Desk): Meteorological Department has announced Pakistan is expected to see a major shift in weather, with heavy rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall from the night of 29 December.

According to the Meteorological Department, the weather system will impact the country from 30 December to 02 January, bringing strong winds and rain to Punjab and Islamabad. Dense fog is also expected to increase in parts of Punjab during this period.

From 29 December to 31 December, Balochistan is likely to experience thunderstorms and heavy showers.

Meanwhile, Sindh may receive light rain and drizzle on 30 December, with rain chances in Karachi, Hyderabad, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Larkana, and Badin.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain and thunderstorms are forecast between 30 December and 01 January, with moderate to heavy snowfall in upper hilly regions. The department warns that snowfall may disrupt travel and cause road closures.

Similarly, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir are expected to receive rain, thunderstorms, and moderate snowfall on the mountains from 30 December to 02 January.

Authorities have advised tourists and residents to remain cautious during rain and snowfall, especially in hill stations, due to slippery roads and low visibility conditions.
