(Web Desk): Dense fog has disrupted traffic across Pakistan as authorities closed several motorway sections, including Lahore–Sialkot M-11, while reopening M-4 and M-5 after visibility improved.

Dense fog has forced the temporary closure of the Lahore–Sialkot Motorway (M-11) and multiple other motorway sections across Pakistan, as authorities intensified safety measures to prevent accidents during reduced visibility conditions.

According to a spokesperson for the Central Region of the Motorway Police, the closure of motorways is a precautionary step aimed at protecting lives and property amid hazardous fog conditions. Drivers and road users have been strongly urged to strictly follow lane discipline, avoid unnecessary travel, and prioritize safety at all times.

The spokesperson advised citizens to travel during daylight hours, noting that the safest travel window during fog is from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, when visibility generally improves. Drivers have also been instructed to use fog lights, avoid overspeeding, and maintain a safe distance from vehicles ahead to reduce the risk of collisions.

Motorway Police officials reiterated that speeding and lane violations during fog can lead to serious and fatal accidents, particularly on high-speed routes connecting major cities. Motorists are encouraged to stay informed about road conditions before starting their journeys.

For emergency assistance, route guidance, or real-time traffic updates, citizens have been advised to contact the Motorway Police Helpline at 130.
