(Web Desk): Dense fog has forced the closure of several major motorways across Pakistan, while air pollution levels in key cities have reached alarming highs.

Thick fog across various parts of the country has severely reduced visibility, forcing authorities to shut down multiple motorways at different locations to prevent accidents and ensure public safety.

According to the Motorway Police, these precautionary measures were taken due to extremely low visibility caused by intense fog, posing serious risks to commuters and drivers.

Motorway M-1 has been closed from Peshawar to Rashakai and from Swabi to Burhan. Similarly, traffic on Motorway M-2 has been suspended from Lahore to Kot Momin, while Motorway M-3 remains closed from Faizpur to Jaranwala. Authorities have also completely stopped vehicle entry on Motorway M-5 from Multan to Rohri. In addition, the Lahore–Sialkot Motorway (M-11) has been closed due to persistent fog conditions.

Fog has also gripped cities including Gujranwala, Bahawalpur, Ahmedpur Sharqia, Rahim Yar Khan, and Sadiqabad, disrupting traffic flow on national highways and causing significant inconvenience to motorists.

A spokesperson for the Motorway Police has advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during foggy conditions. Travelers who must be on the road have been urged to use fog lights, maintain safe speeds, and keep adequate distance between vehicles.
