Key motorway sections reopen after visibility improves
(Web Desk): After hours of disruption caused by dense fog and smog, several key motorway sections have reopened as visibility improved, bringing relief to commuters and transporters across Pakistan.

The Motorway Police confirmed that traffic flow has been restored on multiple routes following better weather conditions and safer driving visibility.

According to Motorway Police spokesperson Syed Imran Ahmed, the reopening was carried out to ensure safe travel on motorways and ease congestion that built up during prolonged closures due to near-zero visibility. He said authorities are continuously monitoring weather patterns and road conditions to prevent accidents.

Motorway sections reopened for traffic

The following motorway routes are now open for all types of vehicles:

  • M-1 Motorway: Peshawar to Islamabad
  • M-14 Motorway: Hakla to Dera Ismail Khan
  • E-35 Motorway: Burhan to Thakot
  • M-11 Motorway: Mehmood Booti to Sambrial Toll Plaza (Sialkot)
  • M-4 Motorway: Abdul Hakeem to Sher Shah
  • M-5 Motorway: Zahir Pir to Rohri Toll Plaza

The reopening comes after dense fog lifted in several regions, significantly improving visibility levels that earlier forced motorway closure due to fog.

Advisory for commuters

Despite the reopening, the Motorway Police have urged drivers to remain cautious, especially during late-night and early-morning hours when fog can quickly return. Motorists have been advised to:

  • Use fog lights where visibility remains low
  • Maintain safe speeds and proper lane discipline
  • Keep a safe distance from other vehicles
  • Avoid unnecessary travel during adverse weather

Officials warned that careless driving, overspeeding, or lane violations during foggy conditions can lead to serious accidents.

The Motorway Police added that they will continue issuing real-time updates if motorway zero visibility conditions re-emerge. Travelers are advised to check road conditions before starting their journey or contact the Motorway Police helpline 130 for guidance.
