(Web Desk): The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast Karachi’s first winter rain, with a western weather system expected to intensify cold conditions across the city later this month.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Karachi is likely to experience its first winter rainfall as a western weather system moves across Pakistan. The expected rain may bring a noticeable drop in temperatures and intensify winter conditions in the port city.

PMD officials stated that westerly winds could begin affecting Karachi between Tuesday and Wednesday, leading to colder weather. The system is expected to strengthen from December 28, impacting upper regions of the country before moving southward.

Rain Forecast Timeline

According to the weather advisory:

  • December 29: Rain is expected in Balochistan and adjoining areas
  • December 30: Karachi may receive light to moderate rainfall, marking the city’s first winter rain of the season

Meteorologists noted that this system follows an earlier weather alert issued on December 18, which accurately predicted rain and snowfall across western and northern Pakistan between December 20 and 22.

Advisory for Citizens

PMD has advised residents to prepare for colder conditions, particularly during nighttime and early morning hours. Motorists are urged to remain cautious as wet roads and reduced visibility may affect travel.

Authorities also warned that snowfall in northern areas could lead to road closures and slippery conditions, urging travelers to stay updated through official weather advisories.
