Temperatures in Lahore hit record high; break 11-year record

LAHORE: (Suno News) The temperatures in Lahore hit a record high, breaking the 11-year record as the plains of Punjab have been in the grip of a heatwave.

According to Chief Meteorologist Shahid Abbas, the temperature in Lahore was recorded at 45.6 degrees Celsius on Tuesday (May 28) which was the hottest day since 2013.

Shahid Abbas said, the temperature was recorded at 48.3 degrees Celsius on May 30, 1944, while it was recorded at 48 degrees Celsius on June 9, 2007.

Under the influence of westerly winds, the temperature is likely to decrease in the next three days. Temperatures will drop by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius.

According to the Meteorological Department, the weather will remain hot in Islamabad and its suburbs. The capital city may receive rain with gusty winds in some places during the night.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), the weather will remain extremely hot in most of the plains of the province. Thundershowers are likely to occur in Dir, Swat, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Kohistan, Shangla, and Bajaur.

In Punjab, the weather will be hot in most districts, and it will be very hot in the southern districts of the province.

Punjab cities including Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, and Lahore are likely to experience rain with gusty winds and thundershowers in some places.

Murree, Galyat, and surrounding areas are also likely to receive thundershowers in the afternoon.

In Balochistan, the weather will remain very hot in most of the districts of the province. Dusty winds are likely to blow in northern districts.

In Sindh, the weather will be hot in most of the districts of the province, and it will be very hot in the upper districts. Apart from hot weather in the coastal areas, dusty winds are likely to blow.

Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are likely to remain partly cloudy, with strong winds and thundershowers in some places.
