According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), several rivers across the country are flowing at high to very high flood levels, raising alarms for further damage in vulnerable regions.
The PMD reported that the Chenab River at Trimmu Barrage is experiencing very high flood conditions, while the Ravi at Balloki and Sutlej at Ganda Singh Wala remain at exceptionally high levels.
NDMA added that water flows in the Indus River at Guddu and Sukkur are also rising and could reach very high flood levels in the coming days.
Fresh weather advisories from PMD warn of heavy to very heavy rainfall in the upper catchments of Sutlej, Beas, Ravi, and Chenab between September 1 and 3.
This rainfall is likely to intensify flooding in Lahore, Gujranwala, and Gujrat divisions, where rivers and nullahs are already swollen.

NDMA’s latest situation report confirms that over 800 lives have been lost nationwide during the ongoing monsoon season, with more than two million people affected in eastern Punjab alone.
Flash floods have also struck Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly in Swat, Buner, and Bajaur districts, where casualties continue to rise.
Authorities urge residents living near rivers and low-lying areas to remain vigilant, follow advisories, and prepare for possible evacuations.
