
PDMA spokesperson Irfan Ali Kathia said that heavy rains are expected in various districts of Punjab from today, the administration of Muharram processions should take precautionary measures keeping in mind the weather intensity.
There is also a risk of flooding in the mountainous areas of eastern Balochistan and Dera Ghazi Khan. An increase in water inflow is expected in the Indus, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, Sutlej, Kabul and adjacent rivers, and urban flooding is likely in major cities of northern and central Punjab.

Meanwhile, following the increase in temperatures, the Meteorological Department has issued a warning of the risk of flooding due to melting glaciers in Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
On the other hand, due to pre-monsoon rains, dams have started filling and usable water storage has increased by 3.56 million-acre feet in 15 days. The water level in Tarbela Dam has risen by 66 feet to 1,520 feet, while the usable water storage in Mangla Dam has increased by 4.90 million-acre feet to 3.019 million-acre feet.
