ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): Fuel supply remains a top priority as Aurangzeb says petrol and diesel availability across Pakistan is secure despite regional tensions and possible disruptions.

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said the government is fully focused on ensuring the uninterrupted availability of petrol and diesel across the country. The statement came while he was chairing a meeting of the Committee to monitor petrol prices in the wake of the emerging situation in the region.

The meeting was held in Islamabad after growing concerns about possible fuel supply disruptions following rising tensions in the Middle East. The committee was formed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to closely monitor the situation and prepare the country for any unexpected developments.

Officials told the meeting that Pakistan currently has comfortable petroleum reserves. According to the briefing, there is enough supply of key fuel products, and there is no immediate reason for public concern regarding petrol or diesel shortages. During the meeting, the committee reviewed different supply and pricing scenarios. The purpose was to ensure the government is fully prepared if the regional situation worsens and affects global oil supply chains.

Authorities also discussed measures to keep domestic energy supplies stable. Officials said the committee will now meet daily to closely monitor developments, review fuel stock levels, and track supply chain movements. The committee will also ensure that all relevant departments and stakeholders act quickly if any supply issue arises. Continuous monitoring will help the government respond rapidly to changing conditions in the global oil market.

Meanwhile, the government’s fuel monitoring committee has submitted several recommendations to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The proposals include a possible work-from-home policy, along with a detailed implementation plan.

The plan also encompasses fuel supply assurance, enforcement mechanisms, pricing strategies, governance measures, and energy conservation measures aimed at reducing fuel consumption nationwide.

Sources indicate that the federal government is considering introducing a work-from-home policy as part of a national fuel-saving strategy. The move could help reduce fuel use if global oil supplies face disruption due to the ongoing Israel-US strikes on Iran.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired the meeting to review the regional situation and Pakistan’s preparedness. During the meeting, Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb briefed the prime minister on the country’s petroleum stock position and fuel consumption patterns.

Officials emphasized that the government is carefully monitoring the situation and remains ready to take timely decisions to protect Pakistan’s energy security.
