(Web Desk): Sui Southern plans to revise the Ramazan gas schedule after LNG imports halt, restoring last year’s timings to ensure gas supply for Sehri and Iftar across Pakistan.

Pakistan’s major gas utility Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) is preparing to revise its Ramazan gas supply schedule after a disruption in LNG imports, according to industry sources.

Officials say the company has decided to restore last year’s Ramazan gas schedule to ensure households receive gas supply during Sehri and Iftar, when demand typically peaks across the country.

New Ramazan Gas Timings Expected

Under the proposed revised schedule, gas will be supplied during specific hours to support cooking needs during the holy month.

According to sources:

  • Gas supply for Iftar: From 3:00 PM to 9:30 PM
  • Gas supply for Sehri: From 3:00 AM to 9:00 AM

These timings are intended to ensure that households can prepare meals for Sehri (pre-dawn meal) and Iftar (fast-breaking meal) without major disruptions.

LNG Supply Issues Behind the Decision

The adjustment comes after a temporary halt in LNG imports, which has created pressure on Pakistan’s domestic gas supply system.

Energy experts say Pakistan relies heavily on imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) to meet winter and seasonal demand, particularly during Ramazan when gas consumption increases significantly.

Authorities are therefore planning controlled gas distribution schedules to maintain supply stability and avoid widespread shortages.

Official Announcement Expected Soon

Sources within Sui Southern Gas Company said the formal announcement of the revised Ramazan gas schedule is expected soon.

The schedule will apply mainly to Sindh and Balochistan, the regions served by SSGC.

Consumers have been advised to plan cooking activities according to the announced gas supply timings once the new schedule is officially confirmed.

Energy officials say the move is part of broader efforts to manage fuel resources efficiently during Ramazan while ensuring essential domestic needs are met.
