Under the proposed scheme, eligible motorcyclists may receive up to 20 liters of petrol per month at a reduced rate. The subsidy is expected to be targeted rather than universal.
Initially, the plan is likely to cover only 70cc motorcycles. These users may get petrol at a discount of around Rs100 per liter through a quota-based system that could start in the coming days.
To manage the process, a mobile application has been developed with the help of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication. This app will allow users to register their motorcycles for the subsidy program.
The proposal is expected to be presented to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for final approval. If approved, the scheme will be launched in phases.
Sources say the Rs100 per liter subsidy will only apply to registered 70cc motorcycles. Higher-capacity or luxury bikes are unlikely to be included in the program.

Vehicles that are not registered or are still pending registration will not qualify for the subsidy. Authorities aim to ensure proper verification before granting benefits.
Earlier, the government announced a major increase in petrol prices, setting the new rate at Rs458.40 per liter. This decision has increased financial pressure on commuters.
Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik said the price hike was necessary due to rising global oil prices caused by the ongoing regional conflict. He added that the government had to make difficult but responsible decisions.
He also mentioned that the Prime Minister has introduced austerity measures, including salary cuts for cabinet members, and stressed the importance of national unity during this challenging time.
