(Web Desk): Pakistan issues over 2,800 visas to Indian pilgrims for Baisakhi festival as religious visits to key gurdwaras begin soon.

The pilgrims are expected to visit several important religious sites, including Gurdwara Panja Sahib, Gurdwara Nankana Sahib, and Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur during their stay.

Officials said the move reflects Pakistan’s efforts to facilitate religious tourism and provide access to sacred places for Sikh pilgrims.

Pakistan’s Charge d’Affaires to India, Saad Ahmad Warraich, extended greetings to the visiting pilgrims and wished them a peaceful and spiritually fulfilling journey.

He highlighted that such visits show Pakistan’s commitment to promoting interfaith harmony and strengthening cultural ties between communities.

Authorities also noted that Pakistan, as a custodian of many important religious sites, aims to promote values of tolerance, mutual respect, and goodwill.

The visit is being carried out under the framework of the Bilateral Protocol on Visits to Religious Shrines, signed in 1974, which regulates such cross-border religious visits.

In the past, concerns were raised by the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee over restrictions faced by Sikh pilgrims from India, making this development significant for the community.

The arrival of pilgrims is expected to bring vibrant celebrations and religious activities across key locations in Punjab.
