The United Arab Emirates Fatwa Council has announced the official rates for Zakat al-Fitr, Fidya, and other Shariah-mandated payments for Ramadan 2026. The decision follows a field price study conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy and Tourism.
According to the council’s statement, Zakat al-Fitr per person has been set at 2.5 kilograms of rice or its cash equivalent of AED 25. For individuals unable to observe fasting, Fidya has been fixed at 3.25 kilograms of wheat or AED 20 per day. The same rate applies if Fidya is paid by providing meals instead of cash.
The council also clarified that intentionally breaking a fast during Ramadan carries a Fidya of AED 1,200, which must be distributed among 60 deserving individuals. For violations of prohibited acts during Hajj or Umrah, the Fidya is AED 120, to be given to six needy persons.

In addition, the council set the minimum cost for an Iftar meal at AED 20. The spokesperson emphasized that Zakat al-Fitr is obligatory for every adult Muslim, male or female, and should be given to the needy before the Eid al-Fitr prayer.
The council urged residents to pay these obligations through authorized channels such as Zakat funds, Emirates Red Crescent, or other recognized charitable organizations in the UAE. The guidance ensures compliance with Shariah while facilitating the distribution of aid to the deserving.
