ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): Finance Ministry Advisor Khurram Shahzad has clarified that the government’s fuel subsidy will not be given to all motorcyclists. He said only selected riders who meet certain conditions will qualify.

He explained that people who own heavy motorcycles are not included in the subsidy. According to him, such bike owners can afford rising petrol costs and do not require financial support.

Shahzad said provincial governments already have detailed data on motorcycles in each area. He added that the provinces themselves suggested that subsidies should be provided only to eligible riders.

He also said that an app-based system will help verify whether a motorcyclist qualifies for the subsidy. Data from the Benazir Income Support Program will be used to check eligibility and ensure transparency.

The advisor pointed out that fuel prices have increased sharply in many countries. He claimed that some nations have seen hikes of up to 80%, while the UAE increased diesel prices by around 70%.

He added that Pakistan has not increased fuel prices over the past three weeks, offering some temporary relief compared to global trends.

Shahzad assured that once the ongoing conflict ends and global oil prices stabilize, the government will provide further relief to the public.
