Kite flying banned near Lahore airport during basant to protect aircraft during takeoff and landing operations.

Authorities have issued an important notification prohibiting kite flying in areas surrounding Allama Iqbal International Airport to ensure aviation safety during the basant festival. The restriction has been enforced following recommendations from the Pakistan Airports Authority to prevent potential risks to aircraft operations.

According to officials, kite flying is strictly prohibited in all aircraft landing and takeoff zones. The restricted landing areas include Nadirabad, Gulshan Ali Colony, Ali View, Nishat Colony, Bhatta Chowk and DHA blocks P, Q, R and S. Similarly, kite flying has also been banned along takeoff routes covering Alfaisal Town, Joray Pull, Canal Bank Road near Tajpura and nearby localities.

Authorities emphasized that kite strings and kites can pose serious threats to aircraft engines and flight safety, especially during critical phases such as takeoff and landing. The decision aims to prevent accidents and ensure uninterrupted and safe flight operations during the busy festival period.
