(Web Desk): Pakistan calls on the United Nations to ensure justice and self-determination for Kashmiris facing ongoing human rights abuses.

Pakistan urged the United Nations to take urgent action on Kashmir human rights violations during Kashmir Solidarity Day address.

Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, delivered a strong and impactful speech highlighting the suffering of people in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He called on the international community to take notice of ongoing human rights violations and play its role in ensuring justice and freedom for the Kashmiri people.

He said Kashmir Solidarity Day serves as a reminder of the long-standing struggles faced by Kashmiris, who continue to endure oppression, injustice and difficult living conditions. He stressed that United Nations resolutions and international human rights laws must be respected in the occupied territory.

The Pakistani envoy emphasized that the Kashmiri people must be given their internationally recognized right to self-determination. He stated that lasting peace in the region cannot be achieved without resolving the Kashmir issue in accordance with UN resolutions.

Asim Iftikhar also highlighted the humanitarian impact on families, saying many mothers are still waiting for their children who disappeared and never returned. He revealed that extrajudicial killings and enforced disappearances have become a serious concern in the region.

He added that the events of August 5, 2019, further worsened the situation, affecting social development, education and healthcare. Pakistan urged global leaders to step forward and support the Kashmiri people’s fundamental rights and peaceful future.
