A tragic road accident in Karachi’s Manghopir area claimed the life of a child and left three others injured when a tanker hit a motorbike carrying four children. According to police, the accident occurred when a reckless tanker driver ran over the motorbike, crushing the young riders.
Officials said the tanker driver fled from the scene immediately after the accident. However, police later arrested the driver within the jurisdiction of the Pakistan Bazaar police station.
Police said the motorbike was being driven by a minor named Sharjeel. He was reportedly taking his brother, sister, and cousin to school when the accident occurred.
All the children belong to a family living in Mehran City. Authorities confirmed that one child, identified as Hassan, died in the accident.
The injured children were identified as Fatima, Abdullah, and Sharjeel. Rescue teams shifted the injured children to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, while the body of the deceased child was also transferred there for legal formalities.
Police have started an investigation into the incident. The accident has once again raised concerns about the growing number of traffic accidents involving heavy vehicles in Karachi.
Citizens and traffic experts say poor traffic management and reckless driving by heavy vehicle drivers continue to put lives at risk in the city.

Earlier, another tragic accident occurred near Korangi Crossing in Karachi. In that incident, a speeding oil tanker ran over a motorcycle carrying members of a family.
The accident occurred near Korangi Crossing Bridge in Allahwala Town. According to police, a three-year-old girl named Sara died in the accident.
She was travelling with her 18-year-old uncle, Raj Muhammad, and her one-year-old brother, Subhan. Police said the uncle was taking the children to buy juice when the speeding tanker hit the motorcycle.
Sara died on the spot, while Raj Muhammad and Subhan were injured and shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities said the family lives in Allahwala Town and originally belongs to Gilgit-Baltistan.
After completing legal formalities at the hospital, the body of the deceased child was handed over to the grieving family. Police said the tanker driver initially tried to escape, but bystanders managed to catch him and handed him over to Zaman Town police.
