Karachi (Web Desk): Earthquake tremors felt in Karachi areas, including Landhi and Korangi, as a 4.0 magnitude quake strikes off the coast late at night.

Residents in several areas of Karachi felt earthquake tremors around midnight, creating panic among people in different neighborhoods.

Many residents reported shaking in the Landhi and Korangi areas, where people briefly came out of their homes due to fear.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the earthquake had a magnitude of 4.0. Officials said the tremor occurred at around 1:27 am and had a depth of 10 kilometers.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located in the sea about 100 kilometers south of Karachi in offshore areas.

Tremors were particularly reported in Landhi No 2 and Landhi No 4, as well as near Babar Market in Landhi.

Residents in Korangi No 6 also said they felt the shaking during the late-night tremor.

Several people shared that the shaking lasted only a few seconds but was strong enough to wake them from sleep.

Authorities said there were no immediate reports of casualties or property damage after the earthquake.

Officials are monitoring the situation while advising residents to remain calm and alert.

Earlier, on February 25, another earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale struck different parts of Pakistan.

According to the Seismological Center, that earthquake had a depth of 114 kilometers and its epicenter was located in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan. The tremors were widely felt in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Swat and Kurram.

Residents in Islamabad and Peshawar also reported noticeable shaking during that earlier earthquake. In Punjab, tremors were felt in Pind Dadan Khan and nearby areas of Jhelum district.

The shaking caused many people to leave their homes and workplaces as a precaution. However, no major damage or casualties were reported in that incident either.
