(Web Desk): Islamabad road closures for Iran-US talks disrupt traffic on April 9-10, as authorities shut key routes and issue alternate routes for commuters.

Authorities have enforced strict security measures in Islamabad ahead of high-level Iran-US talks, leading to the closure of several major roads across the capital.

Due to the arrival of foreign delegations for peace negotiations, multiple key highways and routes will remain closed at different times on April 9 and 10, significantly impacting daily traffic flow.

Traffic Disruptions and Alternate Routes Issued

According to the traffic police spokesperson, while movement across the city will be affected, alternate routes have been announced to facilitate commuters and reduce congestion.

Travelers coming from Peshawar to Rawalpindi via GT Road are advised to use Taxila Motorway, Chakri, Chak Beli Road, and Rawat. Similarly, traffic traveling from Lahore to Peshawar will also be diverted to these alternative routes.

Key Diversions Across the City

Commuters traveling from sectors F-6, G-5, G-6, and G-7 toward Rawalpindi via Margalla Road have been instructed to use Ninth Avenue. Traffic moving from Faisal Avenue toward Zero Point will also be redirected to Ninth Avenue.

Residents traveling from Bhara Kahu to Rawalpindi are advised to use Ring Road, Bani Gala, and Tarlai Road. Meanwhile, those coming from Rawalpindi to Islamabad should take Murree Road via Saddar and connect to Ninth Avenue.

Expressway and Other Key Routes Closed

Authorities confirmed that the Expressway from Zero Point to Korral Chowk will remain closed in both directions. Traffic from Colonel Sher Khan Road heading toward Faizabad has been instructed to use Stadium Road via the Ninth Avenue signal.

Heavy Traffic Entry Completely Banned

Heavy vehicles traveling from Peshawar to Lahore will be diverted via Taxila Motorway and Tarnol Phatak toward Fateh Jang Motorway. Similarly, heavy traffic from Lahore to Islamabad and Rawalpindi will be redirected through Chak Beli Road to Chakri Motorway.

Officials have announced a complete ban on heavy traffic entering Islamabad on April 9 and 10. Additionally, public access to the Red Zone will be strictly restricted during this period.

Public Advisory Issued

Traffic police have urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and cooperate with law enforcement agencies by following the designated alternate routes to ensure smooth traffic management during the high-security event.
