(Web Desk): PM Shehbaz Sharif sets up a high-level committee to ensure uninterrupted petroleum supply as Iran-Israel tensions shake global oil markets.

Pakistan has formed an 18-member high-level committee to ensure uninterrupted fuel supply amid rising Iran-Israel tensions and volatile global oil prices.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved the formation of the committee in view of possible regional escalation and fluctuations in the international oil market. The move aims to prevent any fuel shortage or sudden price spike inside the country.

According to an official statement, the committee will be headed by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb. The federal ministers for petroleum and power will also be part of the body, along with key officials including the secretaries of finance and petroleum and the chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue.

The committee has been directed to review petroleum stock levels and supply-demand conditions on a daily basis. It will closely monitor global oil price trends and assess any potential impact on domestic fuel prices.

Officials said the body will also propose practical measures to ensure a stable and continuous supply of petroleum products, particularly in case of an emergency situation arising from Middle East tensions.

Government sources maintained that proactive steps are being taken to shield consumers from fuel shortages and abnormal price hikes. Authorities believe early planning and strict monitoring will help Pakistan navigate any external shocks in the energy market.
