Under this initiative, eligible widows will receive Rs100,000, while orphaned children will get Rs25,000 in financial support. Officials said the program will officially start after Eid and will benefit more than 50,000 families in its first phase.
Applications for the Rehmat Card can be submitted through a mobile app, web portal, call centre, or by visiting the Zakat and Ushr Department offices across Punjab. Citizens can easily register at the nearest office.
Chief Minister’s Adviser on Zakat and Ushr, Rashid Nasrullah, briefed the chief minister about the project. Maryam Nawaz Sharif said the scheme aims to provide financial support to widows and orphaned children and also help women move toward self-employment.
She added that supporting vulnerable families is a state responsibility, and every citizen has a rightful share in Punjab’s resources. “We are committed to ensuring that assistance reaches those who truly deserve it,” she said.

Earlier, Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb mentioned that the chief minister is also focusing on industrial growth. She noted that consultations with industrialists are ongoing to promote industrial development in the province. Punjab Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman also attended the meeting.
