The government of Pakistan has introduced the Sasta Petrol Subsidy Scheme 2026 to help citizens cope with rising fuel costs and daily travel expenses.
Who will benefit from the scheme
Under this initiative, motorbike riders, rickshaw drivers, and small car owners (under 800cc) can receive monthly cash support ranging from Rs2000 to Rs5000. The scheme is specifically designed for households earning below Rs60000 per month.
Why the subsidy was introduced
Fuel prices have increased sharply, with petrol crossing Rs458 per litre and diesel going above Rs520. Experts link this rise to global oil market pressure and regional tensions, making transportation expensive for ordinary citizens.
How to apply for petrol subsidy 2026
To make registration easy, the government has provided two methods. Applicants can send their CNIC number via SMS to 786 or apply online through the Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Division portal. A mobile app system is also being prepared for transparent distribution.

Eligibility and payment method
Applicants must have a valid CNIC, registered mobile number, and vehicle in their name. Payments will be transferred directly to bank accounts or digital wallets to ensure safety and transparency.
Government’s objective
Officials say the scheme will reduce financial pressure, support daily commuters, and prevent misuse through a digital quota system at petrol pumps.
