The Punjab government has launched a new electric bus service in Toba Tek Singh, marking a major step toward affordable and eco-friendly public transport in the district.

The service was inaugurated by Provincial Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan at a depot located on Gojra Bypass. Initially, 15 electric buses have started operating on two key routes: Toba Tek Singh–Gojra and Toba Tek Singh–Kamalia.

Officials confirmed that the fare has been fixed at just Rs 20 per stop, making it one of the most affordable transport options in the region. The minister said the initiative aims to provide safe, comfortable, and environmentally friendly travel facilities to residents while reducing fuel costs and pollution.

He further revealed that the government plans to expand the service in the coming months. New routes, including Toba Tek Singh–Pir Mahal, are also under consideration to improve connectivity for more people.
