LAHORE (Web Desk): Eidul Fitr holidays in Pakistan are expected to be three days, but the final schedule depends on the moon sighting announcement.

As the holy month of ramazan continues, Muslims across the country are eagerly waiting for Eidul Fitr. The exact date of Eid depends on the sighting of the Shawwal moon, after which the government officially announces public holidays.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet on 19 March 2026, which is likely to be 29 ramazan, to observe the Shawwal moon and make an official announcement.

If ramazan lasts 29 days, the first day of Shawwal will fall on 20 March 2026. In that case, Eidul Fitr may be celebrated from 20 to 22 March.

However, if ramazan completes 30 days, Shawwal will begin on 21 March and Eidul Fitr will likely be observed from 21 to 23 March.

According to the public holidays calendar issued by the Government of Pakistan for 2026, Eidul Fitr holidays are scheduled for 21, 22 and 23 March, from Saturday to Monday. However, this schedule is subject to the official moon sighting decision.

If the moon is sighted on 19 March, then Eid holidays may instead be observed from 20 to 22 March, from Friday to Sunday, creating a possible long weekend for many people.

The final decision will only be confirmed after the official announcement by the moon sighting committee.

This year, Eidul Fitr holidays may bring a long weekend, depending on the moon sighting. Many families are already planning travel and gatherings. Still, everything depends on one announcement.
