(Web Desk): The construction of pedestrian bridges for the Kutchery Chowk remodeling project commenced on Monday, with completion expected within one month.

Punjab Highway Department Superintendent Engineer Ashfaq Sulehri said that new pedestrian bridges are being built to make it safer and easier for people to cross the busy Kutchery Chowk area. He explained that one bridge will connect Rashid Minhas Road, near the FBR building, to Jhelum Road at the district courts gate. Another bridge will link Fatima Jinnah Women University to the Adiala Road bus stand. These bridges will also be connected with each other so pedestrians can move easily across the crowded intersection, which includes district courts and important government offices.

He further said that the Rs. 19 billion Kutchery Chowk remodeling project is now more than 74 percent complete. The main structures of two flyovers and three underpasses have already been finished, while over half of the road construction work has been completed. Final work on the Jinnah Park flyover is also in progress.

According to Sulehri, the project is designed to allow more than 250,000 vehicles to pass through the junction without traffic signals, reducing congestion. Pedestrians will use the newly built bridges for safe crossing.

He added that drainage work is almost complete. Rainwater will be collected in special wells and released into nearby nullahs, and also used to water green belts. Authorities aim to finish the project by the end of next month.
