LAHORE (Web Desk): Umar Hayat, who is jailed for the killing of 17-year-old social media sensation Sana Yousaf, has confessed to the crime during a court hearing.

The 22-year-old suspect revealed that he killed Sana out of anger and revenge because she kept on denying him meetings.

As per media reports, Umar made his statement under Section 164 before Judicial Magistrate Saad Nazir on Tuesday. He said, "I wanted to meet Sana, but her constant refusals made me furious.

"In his court testimony, Umar also disclosed that he had earlier visited Sana at home and had carried a birthday gift for her. However, she never stepped out to greet him and later compelled him to return home. Sana did not accept the gift Umar had brought.

The killing happened in Sector G-13, Islamabad. Farzana Yousuf mother of Sana Yousuf stated in the FIR registered by her that the attacker, at around 3:15 pm, entered the house and went to the room where Sana was sitting and opened fire; his intention was to kill.

Farzana, along with Latifa Shah, a guest at her house, witnessed the incident. Sana was taken to the hospital immediately with the help of their neighbours but unfortunately she died from her injuries. Her body was sent to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences for post-mortem.

Early reports and eyewitnesses have also corroborated that Umar and Sana were familiar with each other. Sana s aunt also reported to investigators that she had overheard a conversation between the two mere moments before the shooting. Sana was overheard saying, "Now go; there are cameras here watching. I ll get you some water.

"The authorities confirmed that the killing was personal. Sana s repeated rejection and her refusal of the gift from Umar were a point of no return.

The senseless killing has created an outburst of anger on social media, and Sana s followers are calling for justice.۔
