Public Transport Fares Hiked
Islamabad (Web Desk): Traveling on the metro bus has now become more expensive for the citizens of the federal capital. From May 26, 2025, a new fare will be implemented on all metro routes of public transport in Islamabad.

According to details, under the new policy issued by the Capital Development Authority (CDA), a uniform fare of Rs100 per journey has been set on the Orange Line, Green Line, Blue Line and Electric Feeder routes. It should be noted that previously the fare on various routes was between Rs50 and Rs90.

Officials say the fare hike was made in view of rising operational costs, continuous increase in fuel prices and maintaining the quality of transport services. According to them, this step had become necessary to provide timely, safe and quality travel facilities to citizens

On the other hand, citizens have expressed mixed reactions to the fare hike. Some citizens have termed it as economic pressure, saying that it is an additional burden in this era of inflation, while others say that if the hike improves the quality of service, then the decision is acceptable.

Authorities have appealed to the public to cooperate, considering this decision as a necessary step towards providing better service, so that the public transport system in Islamabad can be made more efficient and modern.
