The former prime minister said that kite flying had become a bloody sport instead of entertainment. Parents should fulfill their social responsibility of stopping their children from flying kites, he said. Strict legal action would be taken against the manufactures, sellers and purchasers of kites and string, he clarified.
On the occasion, the Inspector General of Police said kites and string were being supplied from Khyper Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province.
Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, former Senator Pervaiz Rashid, various Pakistan Muslim League leaders and the chief secretary were also present.
Yesterday, the chief minister had ordered the police to arrest the culprits involved in kite string after CCTV footage of the incident showed the motorcyclist falling on the road after sustaining the string wounds.
The CM also ordered the police and the city administration to take strict action against kite flyers and those involved in making glass-coated strings.
After the incident, Faisalabad central police officer suspended the station house officer (SHO) of the Factory Area police station.
However, the legal heirs and local people have questioned whether suspension of the SHO could heal the wounds of the bereaved family.
