Govt notifies public holidays for year 2025: Details are inside!

LAHORE: (Web Desk) The government has issued a notification regarding public holidays and optional leaves for the next year 2025.

According to the notification, there will be a total of 40 holidays in 2025, including 17 public and 23 optional holidays.

Key national holidays

According to the notification, there will be public holidays on February 5 for Kashmir Day and on March 23 for Pakistan Day. May 1 will be a holiday for Labor Day, and May 28 will be a holiday for Youm-e-Takbeer. Additionally, there will be three holidays for Eidul Fitr on March 30, 31, and April 1.

Religious holidays

For Eidul Azha, three holidays will be observed from June 7 to 9. There will be holidays on July 5 and 6 for the 9th and 10th of Muharram. The holiday for Eid Miladun Nabi (SAW) is expected on either September 5 or 6, depending on the appearance of moon.

Other national holidays

There will be a holiday on August 14 for Independence Day, and November 9 will be observed as Iqbal Day. December 25 will be a holiday for Quaid-e-Azam Day and Christmas, and December 26 will be an additional holiday for Christian employees.

Bank holidays

In 2025, three special holidays have been designated for banks, which will be on January 1, March 1, and July 1. Public transactions will be suspended during these holidays.

Optional holidays and conditions

Muslim government employees will be allowed one optional holiday per year, while non-Muslim employees will be allowed three optional holidays. The dates for Islamic festivals will be finalized based on moon sighting, and a separate notification will be issued accordingly.

Clarification of the notification

The notification further clarified that all Islamic holidays have been set based on the expected dates. However, changes in the dates may occur due to moon sighting, and a new notification will be issued accordingly.
