Eidul Azha being celebrated with religious zeal and fervour

LAHORE (Web Desk): Muslims across Pakistan are celebrating Eidul Azha today with religious zeal and fervour to commemorate the great sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) and Hazrat Ismael (AS).

The day dawned with special prayers in mosques for well-being of the Muslim Ummah and peace, progress and prosperity of the country.

Eid prayers’ congregations were held at mosques, Eidgahs and open places in all cities, towns and villages across the country. Ulema, in their Eid sermons highlighted the significance and philosophy of great sacrifice offered by Hazrat Ibrahim and Hazrat Ismael (AS). People are offering sacrifice of animals to follow the Sunnah of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS).

The federal and provincial governments have chalked out elaborate security arrangements to ward off any untoward incidents. The local administrations of different cities and towns have also made special arrangements for disposal of offal and other solid waste during three days of Eid-ul-Azha.

Radio Pakistan, Pakistan Television and private media are airing special programs prepared in connection with Eidul Azha while newspapers have published special supplements, highlighting the importance of the Eid and sacrifice.

Eid began across the country with large congregational prayers held in mosques, open Eid grounds, imambargahs, and open fields. After the prayers, religious scholars in their sermons shed light on the philosophy of Prophet Ibrahim’s (peace be upon him) sacrifice and its spiritual significance. They emphasized that this day conveys a message of the spirit of sacrifice, obedience to God, selflessness, and brotherhood.

Following the Eid prayers, citizens performed the ritual animal sacrifice in accordance with the tradition of Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him). From major cities to small towns and villages, the process of sacrifice continued in streets and neighborhoods, and after collecting the remains, people distributed the meat among the needy, relatives, and neighbors.

Special arrangements were made by the government and municipal institutions for cleanliness to ensure timely disposal of animal waste. The cleaning process is ongoing at a fast pace to maintain a clean environment in the cities and to prevent bad odors or the spread of diseases.

Meanwhile, both public and private TV channels have scheduled special broadcasts for Eid al-Adha. These programs highlight the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him), the significance of Eid al-Adha, and the spirit of this sacred tradition. The public is showing great interest in these programs and is participating in the Eid festivities with religious fervor.

This day not only spreads the message of joy and selflessness but also serves as an opportunity to strengthen Islamic values and brotherhood.
