According to reports, mobile internet in Quetta and nearby areas of Chaman has been shut down for security reasons. The suspension has left people struggling to continue their work and communication.
In Chaman’s suburban areas, the blackout has badly hit business activities. Young freelancers and workers involved in online marketing, food delivery, logistics, and parcel services say their income has dropped to almost nothing.
Dozens of food and parcel delivery riders said they can’t receive orders without mobile data. “We depend on daily earnings,” one rider shared. “Without internet, we sit idle all day—it’s hurting our families.”
Education has also suffered deeply. University and college students attending online classes said they are unable to listen to lectures or submit assignments. Many rely on online material for exam preparation, but now their studies are falling behind.

Citizens urged the government to provide alternate solutions if internet services must be suspended for security reasons. They stressed that the internet has become a basic necessity and should only be cut off in emergencies—and for the shortest possible time.
This blackout highlights how deeply daily life now depends on the internet. From food riders to students, everyone is facing losses and frustration. The situation reveals a pressing need for better emergency communication plans so ordinary people are not trapped between safety and survival.
