The provincial government has given in principle approval for a Rs12,500 Ramazan support package for each deserving family. The total package is worth Rs12 billion and aims to provide relief during the holy month.
Information Adviser Shafi Jan shared on X that more than 1 million poor families will benefit from this initiative. He said the amount will be transferred directly through a digital payment system to the head of each eligible family.
Priority will be given to the poor, widows, orphans, disabled persons, transgender individuals and those affected by natural disasters.
Government sources said the financial assistance is meant to help families buy essential food items during Ramazan. The distribution system has been made simple and transparent.

People who want to check eligibility must send their CNIC number to 8171. Selected families will receive confirmation through SMS. After verification, the head of the family can collect the Ramazan relief amount from nearby centres.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also announced Rs13,000 per family under the federal Ramazan relief package. Citizens can check their eligibility by sending their CNIC number to 9999 and waiting for a confirmation message.
This means some families may benefit from both provincial and federal support if they meet the criteria.
This package can provide timely relief to low income families during Ramazan. Direct digital payments may reduce corruption. However, smooth registration and fair selection will be key. If managed properly, it can ease financial pressure for thousands of households.
