Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that petroleum prices will remain unchanged for the coming week, bringing relief to citizens during the festive season.
While addressing the nation, the prime minister said that global oil prices are rising rapidly and the world is facing an unusual situation. He added that attacks on friendly countries have made the situation even more serious.

He revealed that a summary had proposed an increase of Rs49 per litre in petrol and Rs74 per litre in diesel. However, the government decided not to pass this burden on to the public.
The prime minister said that during the happy moments of Eid, the government has rejected the proposal to increase fuel prices. Instead, it has decided to keep petroleum prices unchanged for the next week.
This decision comes at a time when rising global oil prices are putting pressure on many countries. Despite this, the government chose to provide temporary relief to citizens.
Experts believe that such decisions can help control inflation in the short term, especially during important occasions like Eid when expenses are already high.

However, keeping prices unchanged may increase financial pressure on the government, which may need to cover the cost difference.
