Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Special Assistant Syed Tariq Fatemi, and Foreign Secretary Ambassador Amna Baloch.
The visit comes as Pakistan and Austria celebrate 70 years of diplomatic relations. It is also the first time in more than three decades that a Pakistani prime minister has travelled to Austria. The last such visit was made in 1992 by then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

According to the Foreign Office, “During the visit, the prime minister will hold bilateral talks with his Austrian counterpart. The two leaders will take stock of the entire gamut of bilateral relations.”

Prime Minister Shehbaz will also address a special United Nations event in Vienna on the theme of “Sustainable Development, Global Peace and Prosperity.”
He is expected to meet the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) during the visit.
In addition, the prime minister will chair a meeting of the Pakistan-Austria Business Forum organized by the Austrian Economic Chamber. He will also visit various multilateral organizations based in Vienna.
The Foreign Office said Pakistan and Austria enjoy friendly relations based on dialogue, cooperation, respect for international law, and the principles of the United Nations Charter.
