LAHORE (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has left for Turkmenistan on a two-day official visit to attend the International Year of Peace and Trust 2025.

The PM is visiting at the invitation of Turkmenistan President Serdar Berdymukhamedov. During the trip, he will attend a special forum in Ashgabat marking the ‘International Year of Peace and Trust 2025’, the ‘International Day of Neutrality’, and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality.

Turkmenistan was granted neutral status by the United Nations in 1995. The UN defines neutrality as ‘a country staying out of wars, remaining impartial toward all parties, and being recognized by others for this stance’.

PM Shehbaz is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with President Berdymukhamedov and other world leaders attending the forum.

Several key officials are accompanying the Prime Minister, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Power  Minister Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, PM aide Tariq Fatemi, and Special Assistant Talha Burki.

This visit strengthens Pakistan’s diplomatic ties and highlights its commitment to global peace and cooperation. Analysts say such forums provide opportunities for Pakistan to engage with multiple world leaders in one platform, enhancing its international standing.
