Chairing a meeting on power sector reforms in Islamabad, the Prime Minister advised the immediate implementation of a comprehensive plan to resolve electricity shortages in Gwadar Port City.
He said uninterrupted power in Gwadar will boost local businesses, attract investment, and support the city’s rise as one of the world’s best ports and a key economic hub.
The Prime Minister also approved a 100 MW solar project for Gilgit-Baltistan, directing that work should begin without delay to ensure a clean, stable, and uninterrupted power supply.

He stressed that the welfare and economic progress of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan remain among the top federal priorities, and that new projects will help expand industrial activity and investment in the region.
Shehbaz Sharif praised the recommendations of the committee led by Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal and the Ministry of Power for addressing electricity-related challenges.
Officials briefed the meeting that strong measures are already underway to maintain electricity supply for domestic and commercial consumers in Gwadar.
They added that the government will provide land, communication links, infrastructure and other essential facilities within the set timeline to support electricity projects in Gilgit-Baltistan.
