The announcement came hours after the government tabled it in the upper house of Parliament.
In a joint press conference, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, the nominated Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly and Senate and head of the Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Aeen Pakistan (TTAP) and Vice Chairman Allama Nasir Abbas said that this amendment goes against democratic values and constitutional balance.
They also confirmed that the protest will begin from Sunday to mobilise the nation against what they called an attack on the Constitution
The multi-party alliance includes Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP), Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) and Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC).

MWM chief Allama Raja Nasir Abbas said in a statement that the democratic institutions have been paralysed within Pakistan and the nation must step up against the proposed 27th Amendment.
Abbas stated that the government was giving "even more power" to the "powerful" through the proposed constitutional tweaks.
PkMAP Chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai said that the nationwide movement would begin from Sunday night.
On the other hand, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) called the proposed 27th Constitutional Amendment a “conspiracy against the Constitution” and refused to become part of the proceedings of the committee established to discuss the bill.
Senator Ali Zafar said that the proposed 27th Amendment is nothing short of a conspiracy against the Constitution. The entire process is being carried out in haste, without consultation or deliberation, in complete disregard of democratic norms and parliamentary traditions
