The federal government has decided to draft a fresh visa-related policy to resolve growing problems faced by passengers while obtaining visas. The move comes amid tighter screening measures and rising travel restrictions.
To address the issue, the federal cabinet has formed a special committee on the visa clearance regime. Federal Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar has been appointed as head of the six-member body.

The committee will propose steps to make the visa process easy, transparent, and secure. It has been directed to submit its recommendations to the federal cabinet within 14 days.
According to government sources, the committee includes Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Climate Change Minister Musadik Malik, along with the federal law and interior secretaries. The Interior Ministry will provide secretarial support.
The government has already approved a new visa clearance system as part of wider reforms in Pakistan’s travel and visa framework. The goal is to improve efficiency and transparency for Pakistanis living abroad.

This policy move follows recent incidents where passengers were offloaded due to incomplete or improper documents. Authorities have tightened checks to curb illegal migration, fake travel papers, and human trafficking.
Passenger offloading increased pressure on authorities to act. A clearer visa system may reduce travel stress. Strong checks will continue, but smoother rules could help genuine travelers.
