Sohail Afridi has written a letter to the prime minister, requesting that Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, be allowed to meet their family during Eid al-Fitr.
He said that both are currently held in Adiala Jail and that the issue of family meetings has been raised many times before. The request comes ahead of Eid, making it more sensitive.
The chief minister stressed that prisoners have a legal and humanitarian right to meet their families. He said these rights should be provided without any hurdles.
He also pointed out that despite prison rules and court orders, there are still obstacles to granting such basic rights. He urged authorities to address the matter promptly.

The letter added that it is the state’s responsibility to ensure humane treatment, family visits, and proper medical care for prisoners.
Referring to the Pakistan Prison Rules 1978 and the Prisons Act 1894, the chief minister requested that immediate instructions be issued to grant these rights to Imran Khan and his wife.
The issue has once again brought attention to prisoner rights and the treatment of high-profile inmates during important occasions like Eid.
