ISPR updates on ex-COAS Qamar Javed Bajwa’s health after fall
(Web Desk): The ISPR has officially confirmed that former chief of army staff (COAS) General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa suffered injures due to a fall at his residence.

Former Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General (Retired) Qamar Javed Bajwa was hospitalized after slipping and falling at his residence, sustaining a head injury that required admission to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed the incident, stating that the 65-year-old retired general, a recipient of the Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military), is currently receiving medical treatment at CMH. His condition has been described as stable, and he faces no immediate life-threatening risk.

According to initial reports, General Bajwa slipped while walking barefoot inside his home. In a video statement shared on social media platform X, his brother-in-law Naeem Ghuman said, “He slipped barefoot at home and suffered a head injury. All necessary medical tests have been conducted, and his condition is 100% out of danger.”

General Bajwa served as Pakistan’s 10th Chief of Army Staff from November 29, 2016, to November 29, 2022. His tenure, initially appointed by then-Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, was extended in 2019 by Prime Minister Imran Khan. Since retiring at the end of 2022, he has mostly stayed away from public appearances, focusing on personal life and family.

The former army chief’s hospitalization has sparked widespread concern, dominating news coverage and trending on social media platforms. Authorities continue to closely monitor his condition and ensure that all medical protocols are being followed.

Medical experts stress that accidental falls, especially among senior individuals, require immediate attention, even when injuries appear minor. The incident highlights the critical need for rapid medical response to head injuries to prevent potential complications.

The ISPR emphasized that General Bajwa’s ICU admission was precautionary due to the severity of the head injury, and CMH medical teams continue intensive monitoring and care. This ensures that he receives the highest level of treatment and supervision during his recovery.

This development underscores the public interest in the health of Pakistan’s retired military leadership and reinforces the importance of safety measures at home for elderly individuals, especially those with high-profile backgrounds.
