ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): The Islamabad High Court has cleared all objections to Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi’s Toshakhana-II appeals and ordered them to be scheduled for hearing.

On December 20, a special court sentenced both Imran khan and Bushra Bibi to 17 years in prison over allegations that they unlawfully retained a Bulgari jewellery set gifted by the Saudi Crown Prince during an official visit to Saudi Arabia.

During Thursday’s hearing, Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro presided over the matter. Barristers Salman Safdar and Salman Akram Raja represented the couple, with Imran Khan’s three sisters also present.

Barrister Salman Safdar said the Registrar’s office had previously raised objections to the appeals, which were unknown to them at the time. “Objections were raised on the appeals that were baseless. The Registrar’s office objected that the power of attorney was outdated; later, they withdrew the objection and accepted it. They also raised issues regarding unflagged pages and the arrangement of the order,” he explained.

Justice Soomro noted that the court was addressing the remaining objections. When Safdar questioned the issue of unflagged pages, the judge, smiling, said the lawyer could flag the pages.

The court granted seven days for all remaining objections to be removed. Safdar added, “We faced many difficulties earlier and hope the process will now become easier. The Registrar’s office has caused confusion.”

Two miscellaneous applications filed by Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were accepted, including one to remove objections on the main appeal and another to extend the time for removing objections. Justice Soomro assured the lawyers that the applications had been approved and that they would not leave empty-handed.
